Sick and Tired
You know what’s really annoying? When you set a super awesome writing goal for yourself and then you end up getting super sick.
I was doing so well, too! Hallmark Publishing is having open submission during the month of March (meaning you can submit your work without having an agent), and even though it’s definitely a challenge to write a whole book in six weeks or less, it’s possible. I decided to go for it, and started writing a Christmas story set in a small town. I finished chapter nine yesterday, which is a good start, but MAN is this cold dragging me down.
It’s not COVID at least, but it still is pretty unfun. Sinus pressure, earache, swollen tonsils, headache, red eyes…yeah. Pretty sure it’s a sinus infection, and it’s definitely putting me behind on the whole writing thing.
Does that mean I’m going to quit? Nah. I’m still going for it. Hallmark prefers finished manuscripts, but will accept unfinished ones. And even if I only get halfway done by this time next month, I still intend on publishing it myself in time for Christmas.
That being said, it is really hard to balance health with to do lists. Hopefully I can get some antibiotics to kick this thing and get back to writing a chapter or more every day, like I was before.
Want to know what my story is about? Okay, okay! I’ll tell you!
It takes place in a small town in Minnesota where our heroine gets stranded the week before Christmas. She stays at the local inn, run by the hero of our story. As he includes her in all the Christmas festivities around town, she begins to feel a sense of home she hasn’t felt since her mom died, and he starts to see forever with this city girl who’s going to leave once her car is repaired.
So…will they or won’t they?
Throw in a quirky Swedish family and it’s absolutely right up Hallmark’s alley.
And again, even if Hallmark doesn’t want it, I’m still going to publish it. Either way y’all will get to read it!
Thanks for reading and I hope you and your families are healthier than mine!
